Mr. James Chris Floyd, 85, of Chincoteague Island, passed away on Nov. 6, 2018, at his residence.

He was born in Danville, Ga., on Nov. 2, 1933, to the late Ernest and Minnie Grimsley Floyd. Mr. Floyd worked his way through and was enrolled and graduated from the Berry School and Berry College in Rome, Ga., with a master’s degree in social science. After graduation he taught school for several years and then entered the U.S. Army for four years, three of which were served in Germany. After leaving the U.S. Army in 1961, he worked for the Civil Service Commission in Atlanta, Ga., as an investigator. In 1963, he accepted a position to work at NASA and retired from there in 1995.

He was a member of American Legion Post #159, Army Counter Intelligence Veterans (ACICV), and National Counter Intelligence Corp Association (NCICA).

Mr. Floyd is survived by his loving spouse of 53 years, Darlene Floyd; daughter, Sharon Johnson and her husband, Dino; granddaughter, Jessica Richardson; grandson, Derek Richardson; two great-grandsons, Aiden and Jack Richardson, all of Chincoteague; and several dear nieces and nephews in Georgia.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague, with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.

Burial took place in the Daisey Cemetery, Church Street, Chincoteague.
