A New Jersey woman was charged with felony eluding after being pursued by multiple police departments along Route 13 Thursday night beginning in the Parksley area and ending with spike strips at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

The office of Accomack Sherif Todd Godwin was contacted at about 11 p.m., May 23, by the Livingston Police Department in New Jersey regarding a “suicidal subject” who was being tracked and found to be traveling south on Route 13, Godwin said in a prepared statement. The sheriff’s office issued a ‘be on the lookout’ to surrounding police agencies and the vehicle of interest was located by Parksley along Route 13.”

The pursuit involved Parksley, sheriff, the state police and bridge-tunnel officers. Maria Dunne, 54, was detained. An emergency custody order was issued and the suspect was taken to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital where she is undergoing medical treatment.

The investigation is continuing, Godwin said.
