Winter Production: “Moon Over Buffalo”

February 22, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Chincoteague Island Theatre Company presents “Moon Over Buffalo” for its winter production on February 16, 17, 22, and 23 at Chincoteague Cultural Alliance’s Community Center for the Arts, 6309 Church Street.  Doors open at 6:30pm, show time is 7:00pm.  Tickets are $15 and available at H&H Pharmacy, or Sundial Books, or online at chincoteagueca.org

“We love to put on comedies for our winter productions to shake off the doldrums of the season,” said Artistic Director, Lexi Hubb.  “But this play is not just funny.  It is outrageous, side-splitting fun!”

“This play employs so many genres of comedy and has so many memorable one-liners.  We crack ourselves up in rehearsal,” said Karen Kay, actor.

Set at the Erlanger Theatre, Buffalo, NY in 1953, “Moon Over Buffalo” is the story of two eccentric stage actors, George and Charlotte Hay, whose stars have begun to fade.  However, the prospect of stardom from an unexpected visit from Frank Capra sends not only the Hays but the entire company into chaos.

Written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Lexi Hubb, the cast features CITC actors Justin Aruck, Elizabeth Dook, Karen Kay, Cliff Murden, Thom Nolan, Spencer Novak, and Alex Ramey and welcomes newcomer Kellen Williams to the company.

Music and sound effects composed by Bill Troxler, costumes designed by Elizabeth Dook, and set design by Justin Aruck bring 1953 repertory theatre to life.  “The technical aspects of this production have required wizardry, so this will be a show to remember,” said Hubb.

The Chincoteague Island Theatre Company is sponsored by the Chincoteague Cultural Alliance, an all-volunteer, community-based, not-for-profit (501[c]3) organization.  Founded in 2011 by Artistic Director Lexi Hubb, the mission of the CITC is to further enhance the island’s cultural and artistic opportunities by introducing theatre performance and education.
