Mr. Glen Ray Bass Sr., of Wallops Island, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the age of 80 at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ruth Ann Bass. Mr. Bass was born in North Carolina on Aug. 13, 1937. His parents were the late James Franklin Bass and Mattie Lillian Ethridge Bass. Mr. Bass was a member of New Church Baptist Church, and his affiliations were Masonic Lodge #243 and IBEW #80. He was an electrician for many years.
He is survived by his four children, Glenn Ray Bass Jr., Wayne Lee Bass, Ruby Helphrey, and Joyce Harper; six grandsons, Gary Fox Jr, Joseph Bass, Ian Helphrey, Larry III, Jake and Jordan Harper; two granddaughters, Karen Ruth Cherrix and Sierra Bass; three great-granddaughters, Grace Ann and Madelyn Fox, and Olivia Cherrix; two sisters, Joyce Shackleford and Elizabeth Bissett; and several nieces and nephews.
There was a visitation on July 27, 2018, at Fox & Holston Funeral Home, Chincoteague. A funeral service was held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague, on July 28, 2018, with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Interment took place at John W. Taylor Cemetery, Temperanceville, with Masonic Rites.
