The museum is off and running with plans for Heritage Days 2019 exhibits and programs. The museum partners with many of the Chincoteague Island groups and nonprofits to bring a fun and educational opening weekend in March. The theme this year, chosen by local resident Nancy Lane, will be Historic Downtown Chincoteague. The museum is requesting old photographs of buildings, businesses, and events downtown. The museum will use the memorabilia for research and exhibits. Home movies of downtown are also accepted. On October 9, at 10 a.m., anyone with stories, memories, photographs, or home movies can join others at the museum for a roundtable discussion of downtown Chincoteague.

For those with questions about the event or to lend photographs or movies, contact the Museum of Chincoteague Island’s Executive Director Maria Grenchik, at 336-6117. Grenchik can also be reached via email at [email protected].
