Four foals from the famous Assateague herd of wild ponies, including the medicine hat colt, will be sold in a silent auction in December by their owner, the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company.
“We have four late born foals for sale,” said Denise Bowden, a spokesperson for the department. “None of these will be offered as buybacks. The plan is to bring them to the carnival grounds by mid-December. We will let you know when these foals will be able to be picked up.”
According to a post on the company’s Facebook page, the minimum bid that will be accepted is $1,500. All bids must be received by U.S. mail by Friday, Dec. 14 without exception. Bids must be marked by number and sent to CVFC, P.O. Box 691, Chincoteague Is-land, VA 23336 ATTN: Denise Bowden
