A Hallwood councilman was convicted of a misdemeanor offense Wednesday in Accomack General District Court.
John Wilson Smith Jr., 70, of Hallwood, was fined $30 for misuse of an antique registration on a 1980 Toyota wagon. Records state Smith was pulling a trailer with the vehicle on Sept. 23, which is not legal.
The incident occurred on Lankford Highway in front of Perdue Farms. He was charged with inoperative brake lights but was found to have complied with the law.
