Man Pleads Guilty to Violent Crimes

A Cheriton man pleaded guilty this week in Northampton Circuit Court to several violent crimes involving two victims.
George Walker III, 27, of Cheriton, admitted he committed malicious bodily injury, abduction by force, and two counts of strangulation June 16. He also pleaded guilty to a count of malicious wounding in connection with an April 29 incident. Sentencing was set for February. Walker is being held in the Eastern Shore Regional Jail.
In another case, Tykia Twan Berryhill, 25, of Exmore, pleaded guilty to giving a false statement on a medical assistance form on Sept. 1, 2016. Sentencing was deferred until Feb. 11. An-other charge of giving a false statement and two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses were not prosecuted.
Shane Isa Smith, 35, of Lankford Highway in Eastville, also pleaded guilty to giving a false statement on a medical assistance form and two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses. Four charges of false statements and three counts of obtaining money by false pretenses were not prosecuted.
