Hallwood Man Charged With Rape

A Hallwood man was arrested last week on a charge of rape through the victim’s incapacitation, according to records filed in Accomack General
District Court.
Bert Like, 36, of Main Street, was arrested Dec. 20, for the April 18 crime. He is being held without bond in Accomack Jail. Investigator Meghan Patterson, of the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), investigated. A March 4 preliminary hearing was scheduled.
Jeremi Antonio Smith, 22, of Diamond Springs Road, in Virginia Beach, Va., was charged with eluding police on Dec. 24. Secured bond set at $4,000. Deputy J. Sharp, of ACSO, investigated.
Mairah Myshelle Moore, 27, of Main Street in Hallwood, was charged with felony DUI on Dec. 22. She was convicted of the charge twice before in the last five years. Trooper Zachary Beaver investigated. Court records state Moore was going 69 miles per hour on Route 13 near Stuckey’s in Mappsville, when he pulled her over. “Driver had a strong odor of alcohol and had six children in the car ages 3,4, 5, 7, 12, and 13.” She tested poorly on four sobriety tests.
In Accomack Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, Moore was charged with six felony counts of child abuse/neglect in connection with the incident. Moore is being held without bond.
Leo Ayres Jr., 43, of Tasley, was charged with stealing property valued at $200 or more on July 30, 2017. Ayres is free on $1,000 secured bond. He was arrested Dec. 23. Deputy B.K. Misener, of ACSO, investigated.
