Nandua Varsity Soccer Squads Boast Three-Straight to Begin Season

Monday night, the Northampton Yellow Jackets girls varsity soccer club collected their first win of the season, shutting down Lancaster 6-0, in Eastville.

Nohemi Montalvo led the Yellow Jackets with two goals and two assists. Wendi Martinez also put two between the pipes for Northampton with one assist. Rocio Cruz and Layla Rodriquez also tallied one goal apiece, and Liana Rodriguez recorded an assist.

Montalvo and Martinez lifted Northampton to another scoreless victory on their home turf Wednesday afternoon, 2-0, with both contributing a goal.

Northampton will be back in action tonight (Friday) in Eastville to host Northumberland at 6 p.m.

The Nandua Warriors girls varsity team extinguished  Arcadia Firebirds by a 7-0 count Monday afternoon in Onley.  This makes for a third-straight win for the Warriors, who defeated Middlesex 1-0, March 13, and Franklin, 4-1, March 20. Nandua is set for a road tilt against Windsor Monday afternoon beginning at 7 p.m.

The Firebirds host the Yellow Jackets at 5 p.m. in Oak Hall Monday afternoon.

Northampton’s boys varsity team fell to Mathews on the road March 18, 6-1.

The Yellow Jackets also suffered at the claws of the Firebirds March 20, in Eastville, by a 4-1 count, but found redemption against Lancaster Monday night, defending their home turf to a 3-2 win.

Arcadia knotted things up March 18, finishing on a 1-1 note against a hosting Northumberland. The Firebirds swapped host duties Monday night, facing Northumberland again, this time one-upping their opponent to a final count of 1-0.

The Warrior boys are also cruising on a three-game win steak, topping a scoreless Lakeland on the road March 13, by eight, and the team recorded another shutout in Onley over Bruton, 6-0, March 18. Wednesday night, the Warriors traveled to Oak Hall and battled their district rivals to a 3-1 final. The Warriors are at it again tonight at Bayside; Arcadia will meet Northampton on Hamilton Field Monday night.
