The Nandua girls varsity soccer team extended their win streak to four last Thursday night over Lancaster, earning a 5-1 victory at home. Unfortunately for the Warriors, their flawless record was shattered by district rivals Northampton, with the Yellow Jackets one-upping the Warriors Wednesday night in Eastville by one goal, scored by Northampton’s Nohemi Montalvo.

Northampton fell to Northumberland Friday night on Hamilton Field during the Yellow Jackets first athletic jubilee, 2-0. The girls shook it off and moved on to face the Firebirds Monday night in Oak Hall, coming out on top by a 7-1 count.

Wendi Martinez, Yeats James, and Yailin Cruz each contributed two goals in the win, and all assisted twice. Montalvo put one between the pipes with two assists.

The Firebirds are set to take on the Warriors Monday at 5 p.m. in Oak Hall. Nandua is scheduled to host Franklin tonight (Friday) at 5 p.m., and the Yellow Jackets will face Windsor in Eastville at 6 p.m.

Nandua’s boys varsity club fell to Bayside last Friday on the road, 2-1.  Monday marked another loss for the Warriors, as they were shutdown in a road tilt by Kellam, 4-0.

The boys kicked it back into gear Wednesday night to defend their home turf and come out with a six-goal shutout over a scoreless Northampton.

Last Friday, the Yellow Jackets hosted Rappahannock for the athletic jubilee, but were unable to hit the twine, ultimately falling to the visitors, 3-0.

The Arcadia Firebirds boys also downed the Yellow Jackets this week, outscoring Northampton by one goal, to make it a 1-0 game in their favor.

Northampton and Arcadia will go head-to-head again Wednesday night in Oak Hall, beginning at 6 p.m. The Firebirds will have one matchup before the Northampton brawl, as they are set hit the road to Windsor tonight for a 6 p.m. contest.

The Warriors are back in action tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Oscar Smith High School.
