Mrs. Louise Doughty Nottingham, 97, of Franktown, passed away at her home on Monday, June 24, 2019.
Mrs. Nottingham was born on July 4, 1921, in Box Tree Machipongo, to Robert Barry Doughty Jr. and Gladys Charnock Doughty and was the youngest of five children.
Moving with her family to Cape Charles at the age of four, she remained there, eventually meeting her husband William Herbert Nottingham and giving birth to her three children: Robert Nelson, William Francis, and Cynthia Louise Nottingham. After graduating from Nursing School, she worked at Shore Memorial Hospital in the operating room until retirement, after which she worked for several years in the Franktown Post Office.
Mrs. Nottingham is survived by two grandchildren, William Christopher Nottingham and wife, Audrey Potter Nottingham, of Franktown, and Matthew Tyler Nottingahm, of Richmond, and two great-grandchildren, Tracie Dyan and Deanna Grace Nottingham.
Mrs. Nottingham is preceded in death by her husband, her three children, and four brothers, Edward, Melvin, William, and Charles Doughty.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 1, at 11 a.m., from the graveside at Johnson’s Cemetery, Johnsontown, with the Rev. Clarence Bowen officiating.
