Mrs. Marie C. Scott, 95, wife of the late J. Lynwood Scott, passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 2, 2019. A native and lifelong resident of Onancock, she was born March 5, 1924, to the late James and Winnie Chambers.

Mrs. Scott retired from the former C&P Telephone Company, where she worked various positions in their business office throughout her 36 years of dedicated service. Family was Mrs. Scott’s greatest love and the center of her world, and she never missed an opportunity to show them. Over several decades, she faithfully attended school programs and sporting events. She was always there when it meant the most, living for the smiles on her loved ones faces. Mrs. Scott carried joy and happiness wherever she went, as if it were her gift to hand out to those in her path, a gift that will be forever celebrated and cherished.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane S. James, of Onancock; grandsons, Adam W. James, D. Brent Edwards and wife, Karen, and L. Scott Edwards and wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Kennedy James, Ryan Edwards, Ashleigh Edwards, Kayla Turner and husband, David, and Brad Taylor; great-great granddaughter, Allison Turner; niece, Penny Duckworth; and great-niece, Noelle Holland and husband, Dano. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Cherry Scott Edwards and her husband, Dean; and her sister, Doris C. Marsh.

Funeral services were conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, with the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating.
