Patricia Culliton

Mrs. Patricia G. Culliton, of Avondale, Pa., left this earth for heaven July 23, 2019. Born in Salisbury, Md., and raised in Parksley, she was the daughter of the late Nellie May (Scott) and the late Judson Guy. Mrs. Culliton was a beloved wife and partner, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a dear friend to many people. She blessed everyone with her smiling eyes, joy of living, infectious energy, and hugs and caring for others, all rooted in her deep faith. She loved the beach, sweet Southern cooking, her church community, and family and community gatherings. Her fun-loving spirit will never be forgotten. Among her favorite sayings was, “Dance like no one is watching.”

Mrs. Culliton was a graduate of Goldey-Beacom College, in Wilmington, Del., and made her career at Hercules and DuPont, where she retired after working for many years as an international sales correspondent. She was an active and passionate member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, where she welcomed all. She also led the Grief Share Program and was a member of the choir.

She was predeceased by her mother and father and by late husbands, Harry Yarnell and Carroll Bowling. She is survived by her stepdaughters, Beth Leeper (Curt) and Susan Bowling; grandchildren, Grant Leeper, Evan Leeper, Eva Leeper, and Blaise Bowling; and great-grandchild, Callisto Sygall. She is also survived by her husband, Bill Culliton; his children, Kathy Culliton-Gonzalez (Moises), Angie Culliton, Mary Layshock (Mark), Jim Culliton (Deb) and Susan Trachtman (Andy); and his grandchildren, Antony Gonzalez, Kevin Gonzalez, Luis Gonzalez-Culliton, Kristen Culliton, Daniel Layshock, Erin Layshock, Liz Trachtman and Abbey Trachtman.

A graveside service will be held at the Parksley Cemetery Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Alan Layman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Culliton’s memory may be made to Aldersgate UMC, Grief Share Program, 2313 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE 19803.
