Ms. Ruth Elizabeth Ryan, 59, resident of Parksley, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at her home. Born Nov. 18, 1959, in Newark, N.J., she was a daughter of Lonnie Ryan, of Bricktown, N.J., and the late Joseph Ryan.
Ms. Ryan’s world revolved around her family, and she happily devoted her life to them. The proud “Mema” of 16 grandbabies, nothing gave her more joy than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Elebash and husband, Michael, and their son, Grayson, of Titusville, Fla., Erin Handy and husband, Larry Jr., and their children, Nolan, Larry III and Arrien, of Parksley, Teresa Jo Tyler and husband, James, and their children, Wesley, Dusty, Leland and Farah, of Tangier Island, Joey Vermeal and wife, Naomi, and their children, Carson, Carly Rae, Jordan and Carter, of Onley, and Sophia Vermeal Pruitt and husband, Trey, and their son, Tucker, of Painter; children of her late daughter, Julie, Teagen and LonnieMae; stepdaughter, Wendy Vermeal, of Toms River, N.J., and her son, Xian; twin sister, Susan Norton, of Covington, Ky., sisters, Linda Dowling and husband, Frank, and Debi LaParre and husband, Michael, all of Bricktown; brother, Joe Ryan, of Toms River; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by the man who gave her all her blessings, Edward William Vermeal; their beloved daughter, Julia Vermeal; sister, Kathleen Ryan; brother-in-law, Tom Norton; and sister-in-law, Carly Ryan.
To honor Ms. Ryan’s wishes, the family will gather for a private interment in the Parksley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Williams Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Parksley, VA 23421.
