Ms. Odessa Perry Houston, 87, of Conover, N.C., passed away Oct. 28, 2019, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock.
Born Aug. 24, 1932, in Bluefield, Va., she was the daughter of the late Walter Yost and Imogene Bowman. Ms. Houston was an incredible seamstress who could sew anything. She loved holidays, gardening, birds and animals, doll collecting, working on puzzles and reading. Above all, she adored her beloved Yorkie, Barbie, and her loving family.
Ms. Houston is survived by four daughters, Karen Rakowski (Tom), of Melfa, Darleen Cline (Rodney), of Claremont, N.C., Pamela Sigmon (Bruce), of Conover, N.C., and Sarah Parks, of Melfa; 11 grandchildren, Sean Rakowski, Shane Rakowski, Sharon Rakowski, Denise Starnes, Odessa Mason, Brittany Cline, Amanda Sain, Beckie Huitron, Sydney Moss, Samuel Sigmon and Jodi Hootman; ten great-grandchildren, Alexa, Baldo, Dylan, Savanah, Jasmine, Ping Jun, Leela, Christopher, Alaina and Alice; and her beloved Yorkie, Barbie.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Dean Houston.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Conover, N.C.
Arrangements were made by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
