Ms. Martha Lynn Burns, better known as Marty, 58, a resident of Parksley, formerly of Birdsnest, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2019, at Shore Health and Rehab Center in Parksley. A native of Birdsnest, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Ottis P. Burns and the late Joyce Carpenter Burns.

She is survived by two nieces, Catherine A. Bell and Stacee L. Bell, both of Machipongo; two nephews, Tye W. Burns and his wife, Brittany, of Nassawadox, and Jay Bell III and his wife, Trish, of Cape Charles; a brother-in-law, Jay Bell Jr., of Cape Charles; a sister-in-law, Karen Foley and her husband, Jack, of Eastville; a great-nephew, Masen C. Bell, of Cape Charles; and two great-nieces, Marissa P. Bell, of Cape Charles, and Sutherlyn Y. Burns, of Nassawadox. She was predeceased by her brother, William C. “Tip” Burns, and sister, Debra C. Bell.

A graveside service was conducted Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Eastville Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Conrow officiating. Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
