Update: Accomack Sheriff’s Office Investigates Death

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man found early Friday in Onancock.

According to a press release from Sheriff Todd E. Godwin, his office received a report around 1:42 a.m. on Dec. 13 of shots fired on Jacob Street. Responding deputies found a male subject “lying in the living room floor suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.” The victim, identified on social media as Tayvion Laquan Smith, later died from his injuries.

A visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 20, from 2 – 4 p.m. at Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., 24497 Mary N. Smith Rd., Accomac, according to an obituary.

A second visitation will be held Saturday from noon to 1 p.m. at Macedonia A.M.E. Church, 23536 Church Road in Accomac. A funeral service for Smith will be held at the church at 1 p.m.
