Nandua Wrestling Wins Big Off the Shore

The Nandua wrestling team traveled west last weekend Dec. 7 to Blue Stone High School to participate in the Lake County Classic. Nandua won the 12-team tournament with a total of 209 points.

Nandua had eight medalists with five wrestlers making the finals. David Gastelum was the lone champion with a 7-5 decision victory in the 160-pound division. Runners-up for the Warriors included Ben Gutierez (113), Matt Taylor (120), Cameron Mears (152), and Joe Teasley (182). Devon Nieves took third place at 138 pounds while Dylan Ross (145) and Will Stevens (285) placed fourth.

Nandua will be back on the mat Dec. 20 for a two-day tournament held at Parkside High School in Maryland.
