The organization Friends of Northampton County Parks and Recreation has a 10-year goal to transform the old Machipongo Middle School into a community center.
Its current project is fundraising to replace the old gym’s original drinking fountains, of which only one is functional. The gym is used for youth and adult recreation programs.
The friends organization is reaching out to local businesses for sponsorship in the form of purchasing 4-foot by 6-foot color banners that will include the business name, company logo, website, etc., and which will hang in the gym for a year. Additional years could be purchased at a reduced cost.
