A residential structure fire on Chincoteague early Christmas Day claimed the life of one victim.
The Chincoteague Vol. Fire Company and several other fire companies were called at around 6:21 a.m. Dec. 25 to a working residential structure fire on Channel Lane in Chincoteague.
After they gained access to the home, firefighters found one victim deceased from thermal injuries, according to a social media post from the Chincoteague Vol. Fire Company.
The fire was contained and the victim’s body was taken to the Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office in Norfolk.
No other injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation, and the victim’s name was not immediately released, pending notification of the family.
