Mrs. Donna Lee Ewell Lagasse, 76, wife of the late Thomas Earl “Tom” Lagasse and a resident of Hopeton, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Born March 22, 1943, in Nassawadox, she was a daughter of the late Sewell David Ewell and Ellie Justis Ewell.

Mrs. Lagasse was a gentle, selfless, thoughtful, caring, bright shining light, who graciously shared the love in her heart with everyone she encountered.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry B. Barrett and husband, Ike, of Hopeton; sisters, Catherine Kromer, of Hopeton, and Mary Ellen “Mernie” Ewell, of Parksley; companion and dear friend, Millard F. Berry; son-in-law, Johnny Edwards; stepchildren, Thomas “Tommy” Lagasse Jr. and Wendy Nault; grandchildren, Richard “Rick” Bailey Jr., Nicole DeCarlo and husband, Bryan, Cody Bailey, Christina Berry and husband, Thomas “Beef,” Lindsey Savage and husband, Jared, Bailey Edwards, and Dana Tapman and husband, Billy; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Caleb, Hailey, Parker, Austin, Jace, Gunner, Gage, Gracelynn, and Brody; father of her children, Paige Woodrow Bailey; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Kimberly Bailey Edwards; son, Richard Dean “Ricky” Bailey Sr.; and great-grandson, Brayden Berry, all with whom she is happily reunited.
