Mrs. Jackie Besecker, 78, of Wallops Island, passed away on Jan. 13, 2020, at Hartley Hall in Pocomoke City, Md.
She was born on Chincoteague Island, Nov. 6, 1941, to the late John Edward and Ruby Davis Holloway.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church and taught fifth grade Sunday School class for over 20 years. She was also a member of Ruth Sunday School class and the Chancel Choir.
Mrs. Besecker is survived by her loving spouse of 59 years, Jerry Besecker Sr., of Wallops Island; two sons, Jerry Don Besecker Jr., of New Church, and John Charles Besecker and his wife, Susie, of Wallops Island; three granddaughters, Amanda Besecker, of Greenbackville, Brittany Besecker, of Onancock, and Mary Catherine Besecker, of Wallops Island; brother, William Edward Holloway and his wife, Brenda, of Milford, Del.; sister, Kathie Derrickson, of Chincoteague; brother-in-law, Charles Besecker and his wife, Marlene, of Wilmington, N.C.; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Lori Ann Besecker.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 17, 2020, 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., at Salyer Funeral Home, Inc., Chincoteague.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague, with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Burial will take place in the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville.
