Mr. Wayne Gordon Gaskins, 67, of Bloxom, passed away on Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock.

Born Oct. 20, 1952, in Nassawadox, Wayne was the son of Phyllis D. Young, of Onancock, and the late Warner Gardner Gaskins. He was a lifelong self-employed mechanic.

At an early age, Wayne was baptized at Zion Baptist Church in Parksley, and remained a Christian throughout his life. He enjoyed reading the Bible, quoting scriptures, and hosting Friday gatherings in his garage, with music, fellowship, food and fun. Wayne had a generous nature, never charging what he should have to clients, family, and friends, for automotive repairs. He was an animal lover, including his three cats, Big Boy, Tigger, and Kelly; and liked to go to flea markets, yard sales, and thrift stores.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his daughter, Amber Marie Gaskins, of Chincoteague; a brother, Barry D. Gaskins of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Rita F. Hardison and husband, Ken, of Watts Bay in Wallops Island, (their daughters, Mindy Barber, Tammy Watford, and Stacy Chaback; and grandchildren, Blake, Riley, Tyler, and Laci); and Connie M. Owens and husband, Tommy, of Greenbush, (their son, Josh Owens and wife Brittany; and grandson, Zach); and his girlfriend of six years, Judy Franko (mother of Mark Franko, and her predeceased son, Michael Gladding Jr.).

Following Wayne’s wishes, a private burial will be held for family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
