Mae S. Northam

Mrs. Mae S. Northam, was born April 27, 1926, in Melfa, to the late Levin and Eliza Sample. She departed this life on Jan. 25, 2020, at her residence in Onancock.

Mrs. Northam was educated in the public schools of Accomack County and graduated with honors from Mary N. Smith High School. She was accepted at St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Va., but decided instead to reside on the beautiful Eastern Shore with family and friends.

She was a lifelong member of Gaskins Chapel A.M.E. Church in Savageville.

She was married to the late Henry Northam and they shared many wonderful years together before his passing. Mrs. Northam worked in her home and in the homes of others for a considerable time. She enjoyed reading and watching wrestling in her spare time.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories her sister, Nola Dennis; nephews, Edward Walker, Bradley Sample, and James Sample; nieces, Kimberly June and Tonya West; sisters-in-law, Beulah Sample and Patricia Sample; and other relatives and friends.
