Mrs. Alice Faye Tarr, 83, of Chincoteague Island, passed away peacefully Feb. 10, 2020, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born Jan. 17, 1937, in Cape Charles, she was the daughter of the late Nathan Shields and Edna Shields Hanley.

In 1954, she married the love of her life, Albert Joey Tarr, and together they traveled as his U.S. Coast Guard career carried them to several stations on the East Coast.

Mrs. Tarr was a waitress for many years at both Bill’s Seafood and The Beachway restaurants and lastly, was a prep cook at the Village Restaurant until her retirement eight years ago at 75 years old.

Mrs. Tarr is survived by her two sons, Billy Joe Tarr and his wife, Tammy, and Jerry Tarr and his wife, Patty, and her daughter, Leda Scullion and her husband, Joe, all of Chincoteague; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Johnny S. Tarr; two sisters, Ginny Clark and Peggy Jester Carpenter; and one brother, John W. Shields Sr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Riverside Shore Hospice, 25379 Lankford Hwy, Suite A, Onley, VA 23418.
