Alice Mason Perdue

Mrs. Alice Mason Perdue, 88, wife of the late Marion Jasper “M.J.” Perdue Sr. and a resident of Parksley, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020. Born March 21, 1931, in Craddockville, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Peter Mason and Nannie Jewel Doughty Mason.

Mrs. Perdue was a talented seamstress, having worked for the former R&G Shirt Factory for 28 years and continued to share her gift with others even after retirement. A longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church, Mrs. Perdue was a devoted Christian woman and loved reading her bible. She had a green thumb and could grow the most beautiful flowers, both indoors and out. Above all, Mrs. Perdue adored her family and was especially close to her son, M.J., with whom she shared a special bond.

She is survived by her loving son, M.J. Perdue Jr. and wife, Candy, of Parksley; granddaughter, Lauren; great-granddaughter, Brooke; step-grandson, John Watson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Bonnie Lou Perdue; sister, Jeannette Mason; and brothers, Albert and Lloyd Mason.

A funeral service was held at Grace United Methodist Church Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020 with the Rev. John Herman officiating. Interment followed in the Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
