Mr. Emerson Sylvester Liscum, 79, of Chincoteague Island, passed away Feb. 27, 2020, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.

He was born in Salisbury, Md., Oct. 22, 1940, to the late Emerson and Mabel Tarr Liscum.

He was a member of Gideons International and Chincoteague Church of God where he taught Sunday school. He was an honorary member of Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company and a Saltwater Cowboy. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Mr. Liscum is survived by his loving spouse of 22 years, Esther Pearl Liscum, of Chincoteague; son, Steven Liscum and his wife, Alison, of Gastonia, N.C.; two grandsons, Nathan and Nole Liscum, both of Gastonia, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ina Liscum Yoder.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Chincoteague Church of God with Pastor Kevin Stanley officiating. Burial took place in the John Taylor Memorial Cemetery, Temperanceville.
