Vikings Suffer Loss in Season Opener

The 2020 Broadwater softball season kicked off this week March 10, as the Vikings hosted Holly Grove Christian Academy in Exmore. The Vikings fought from behind the entire game after allowing two runs through the first three innings. The fourth inning was the turning point in the game as Eagle bats picked up and put four more runs on the board. The Vikings were held scoreless until the seventh inning as the Eagles allowed only five hits throughout the game.

Jenna Laird led hitting for the Eagles with three hits and two RBIs, followed by Kayla Graziano with two hits and three RBIs. Laird led pitching through five innings with a .40 WHIP (walks and hits divided by total innings pitched) and 10 strikeouts.

Hannah Davis led Broadwater pitching four innings with four strikeouts. The Vikings will be back on the field March 23 for 4 p.m. game against Salisbury Christian School.
