New Church Man Charged With 3 Convenience Store Robberies

A New Church man was arrested and charged with robbing the Oak Hall Corner Mart at gunpoint March 26 and two other recent convenience store robberies, according to a press release from the Accomack County Sheriff’s Department.

The Oak Hall robbery was reported around 9:51 p.m., March 26, according to the release.

Responding deputies a determined that “a male subject entered the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of money,” the release revealed.

The suspect fled the scene driving a small dark-colored SUV traveling south on Lankford Highway.

On March 30, the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Hillcrest Drive in New Church, in reference to the Oak Hall robbery.

Jarell Edward Corbin, 31, of New Church, was arrested and charged with three counts of robbery, three counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a robbery, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The three robbery charges were in connection with robberies occurring at the Dollar General Store in Oak Hall on Feb. 7, the Accomac Shore Stop on March 23, and the Corner Mart in Oak Hall on March 26.

Corbin is being held at the Accomack County jail with bond denied.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Virginia State Police.
