Mr. John Michael Kohler, an Eastern Shore native, was 35 years old when he passed away as a result of a vehicular accident on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
He was well-known for his creative talent, particularly in the restaurant community, having worked as a cook or chef in a number of eateries in South Carolina, Massachusetts, and Virginia. An Eagle Scout, he attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina, majoring in historic preservation, minoring in the classics. Throughout his life he was a student of local lore and family history, and he maintained a great love for the outdoors, including hiking, fishing, and camping.
He is survived by his mother, Cynthia Sherkey, and his sister, Ana Kohler, both of Cheriton.
He is greatly missed and will forever live in the hearts of his loving family. In lieu of flowers, to honor his memory, please treat others with patience, respect, and kindness.
