Mrs. Mary Ruth Frallic Kirouac passed away peacefully on July 10, 2020, at the age of 96. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend.

Ruth was born in Winston Salem, N.C.; she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Lola Wilhelm. She was raised in an orphanage and upon graduation, moved to Baltimore, Md., where she would meet John Eugene Frallic. They married on Feb. 26, 1943, and had two children. She and Gene traveled the world on three overseas assignments for their jobs with the Central Intelligence Agency. Ruth retired after 22 years of service and in 1974, they built their home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. They had many wonderful years there, enjoying boating, cooking, entertaining, square dancing, and life on the water. Sadly, Gene passed away in 1982. She would later marry Louis Kirouac, of Accokeek, Md., and they spent their years between Virginia and Arizona for the winter, laughing, and practical joking. Louis suddenly passed away in 1994. Ruth lived in her home on the Chesapeake Bay until 2016. She spent the remainder of her years at Family Care in Marriottsville, Md.

Ruth was a member of Drummondtown United Methodist Church, a 50-plus-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Whirl-a-Ways Square Dance Club, and she loved her volunteer work with the local hospice organization. She was a friend to everyone and will be greatly missed.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Frallic; second husband, Louis Kirouac; daughter, Paulette Scott; and beloved miniature schnauzer, Ashley.

She is survived by her son, Preston (Terry) Frallic; step-daughter, Kathleen (Clarence) Parrish; four granddaughters she lovingly called “Grandma’s Girls,” Karen (Pat) Saunderson, Debi (John) Justice, Amy Scott, and Teressa (Brian) Merck; and two step-grandchildren, Laura and Mike Parrish. She was “GG” to seven great-grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Luke and Logan Justice, Kyle, Brooke, and Ryan Saunderson, and Keaton and Carter Merck.

A Celebration of Ruth’s Life is planned at her home for close friends and family.
Contributions can be made to Ruth’s favorite charity, St. Jude Research Hospital, on their website, www.StJude.org, by selecting memorial giving, in her name, Ruth Kirouac.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the amazing care and love she received at Family Care of Marriottsville, Md., over the past four years.
