Mrs. Kathie Jo Brawley Derrickson, 69, of Chincoteague Island, went to be with the Lord Aug. 26, 2020, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Chincoteague Island, on Oct. 18, 1950, a daughter to the late John and Shirley Davis Brawley.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Ruth Sunday School Class, and Accomack Chapter #62 OES. She taught 3rd grade Sunday School and directed the Karaoke Kids for many years. She retired after working several years at the Waterside Motor Inn.
Kathie is survived by her son, David Lee Derrickson, of Chincoteague Island; daughter, Danielle Nicole Harris, and her husband, Matthew, of Montoursville, Pa.; grandson, Ethan Harris, of Montoursville; granddaughter, Lydia Harris, of Montoursville; two brothers, Rick L. Brawley and his wife, Kathy, of Galion, Ohio, Woody Brawley and his wife, Teresa, of Little Rock, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Evans Derrickson.
Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020, at Salyer Funeral Home Inc., Chincoteague Island.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2020, at 11 a.m., at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Burial will take place in the Mechanics Cemetery on Chincoteague Island.
