Mrs. Alta B. Applegate, 92, wife of the late George H. Applegate and a resident of Onancock, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock. A native of Spring Lake, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Alton B. Osborn and the late Susie Falkinburg Osborn. She was a retired assistant administrator for Accomack County and an avid quilter.
She is survived by seven children, Jeanne M. Applegate Lotkowski and her husband, Ed, of Keene, N.H., Edith L. “Sandi” Caspersen, of Bloomsburg, Pa., Patricia A. “Triche” Sherman and her husband, Corrie, of Point Pleasant, N.J., George H. Applegate Jr. and his wife, Christy, of Onancock, John W. Applegate, of Bealeton, Va., Susan M. Hurst and her husband, Andy, of Onley, and James D. Applegate and his wife, Kim, of Cape Charles; two sisters, Doris White, of Long Branch, N.J., and Ruth Masella, of Venice, Fla.; 18 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
