Mr. Dennis James Taylor, 66, of Elkin, N.C., passed away at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Friday morning, Jan. 29, 2021. He was born in Northampton County, Va., on July 30, 1954, a son to the late James Taylor and the late Agnes Hall Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a faithful member of Zephyr Baptist Church, in Elkin, and was a passionate follower of Christ. He was the prior owner operator of Eastern Shore Ambulance Service, Inc. before moving to live in Elkin in 2007.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chance Holston; a great-granddaughter, Madalynn Allshouse; and a brother, Erwin Taylor. Surviving is his wife, Margaret Shelton Taylor; children, Chastity Hinson, Ray Velbis, Christina and Matthew W. Allshouse; grandchildren, Little Ray Velbis, Charles Velbis, Matthew C. and Jenna Allshouse, Brandon and Chelsea Allshouse, Ethan and Katelynn Allshouse, Nickoli Velbis, Cameron Martin, Patrick Hogan, Hannah Allshouse, and Hailey Martin; great-grandchildren, Brendan Velbis, Joshua Velbis, Daniel Allshouse, Alexis Allshouse, Kinsley Allshouse, and Mason Allshouse (on the way).
Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home with burial following in the Zephyr Cemetery. The Rev. Craig Key officiated the services. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Taylor family.
