Mr. Jemel Lydell Toppin, 34, of Bloxom, departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at Riverside Memorial Hospital in Onancock.
“Mel” as he was known by family and friends, was born in Nassawadox to Bruce Bagwell and Shirley Toppin. He was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. He made an everlasting impression as a father, son, brother, friend, and as an irreplaceable member of the Toppin, Mason, and Handy family. Jemel worked as a domestic worker.
Private funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at the Mary N. Smith Cultural Enrichment Center, Accomac, with the Rev. Tamela P. Wise officiating. Interment was in the Macedonia Baptist Cemetery, Bloxom.
Jemel leaves to cherish fond memories: his three sons, Braedyn Ayres, Jase Riley, and Jesai Stratton; parents, Bruce Bagwell, Shirley Toppin, and Larry Handy; three brothers, Zacchueus Toppin, Xavier Toppin, and Larry Handy Jr.; three aunts, Diane Randall, Mabel Tyler, and Beatrice Mason; and a host of other relatives and close friends.
