Work Detail Helps With Roadside Trash

Dear Editor:

In response to the “ditch garbage” letter to the editor (“Trash Pollutes Our Treasure,” March 12), the previous sheriff offered a trash cleanup work detail for inmates. I was fortunate to be part of that program in which we averaged 600-1,000 pounds of roadside garbage a day.

I look forward to the same type of program with the new sheriff, Todd Wessells. It truly benefits all of the residents of Accomack County.

Remember, it’s our county. Don’t trash it.
