Mrs. Jean Taylor Parks, 92, wife of the late Severn Thomas “Tommy” Parks, passed away peacefully Monday, April 26, 2021. Born June 22, 1928, in Clam, she was the daughter of the late Vaden Taylor and the late Margie Thornes Taylor.
Jean’s greatest passion was caring for others, a trait that suited her 16-year career as a certified nursing assistant at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, as well as her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Jean was rarely idle, and even when sitting still, you’d find her crocheting or working in a puzzle book. For decades, she worked alongside her husband at his crab house and continued to do so into her 70s. She attended Onley Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to old hymns and reciting scripture.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Diane P. Hendrickson, of Hampton, and Linda W. Killmon and her husband, Phillip, of Onley; brother, Jimmy Taylor, and his wife, Virginia; grandchildren, Tommy and Aaron Hendrickson, Billie Jean Miles, and Bobbie Lyn West; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth “Buddy” Taylor, and son-in-law, Michael Hendrickson.
Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 1 p.m., with the Rev. John Burr officiating.
