Temperanceville Man Dies in Early Morning Crash

A single-car accident claimed the life of a Temperanceville man early this morning, May 8.
According to a press release from the Virginia State Police, the accident occurred at approximately 12:36 a.m. on Lankford Highway, north of Parks Road.
“The driver of a 2006 BMW, Matthew Mitchell, 43, of Temperanceville, was traveling northbound on Lankford Highway when for an unknown reason, the car drifted off the roadway and struck a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn and eject Mitchell,” said Sgt. Michelle Anaya in the press release.
Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol was a contributing factor.
Notification was made to his next of kin.
