Mrs. Josephine L. Byrd, 80, of Mappsville, was called home on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock.
Born in Eastville, Josephine was the beloved daughter of the late Finney Warrington and the late Helen Warrington Finney and the biological daughter of the late Malinda Williams.
On Oct. 26, 1962, Josephine married the love of her life, Lynwood T. Byrd. Through the years, she was employed in various capacities including: R&G Shirt Factory, senior citizens transit operator, and as a certified nursing assistant at Arcadia Nursing Home. She was a dedicated and conscientious bus driver for Accomack County Public Schools for many years until her retirement.
Private graveside services were held Saturday, May 8, 2021, at the Wharton Cemetery, Parksley, with the Rev. Harvey Davis Sr. officiating.
Josephine leaves to cherish her loving memories: a loving daughter, Teressa Byrd; stepson, Antonio Tunell; two stepgrandchildren; godchildren, Alonzo Parker, Leslie Parker, Loletta Davis, and Charles Copes; a very special sister-in-law, Miranda Broadwater; cherished nephew, Hilton Williams; three sisters, Helen Williams, Charlette Williams, and Nancy Davis; one brother-in-law; Vincent Davis; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
