It has been 429 days since the first COVID-19 case was diagnosed and treated at Riverside Health System. To commemorate the date, May 12, 2021, has become a day of honor, remembrance and recognition for care teams, patients and loved ones impacted by the pandemic.

Riverside facilities were decorated with teal, white and gold balloon bouquets and installations. Each display was included in a space where Riverside team members may reflect on their experiences. Teams also shared through a card their thoughts and feelings from the past year. These displays were made possible by the generous support of several community partners that wished to express their gratitude and appreciation for Riverside health care heroes. Sponsorship support has been committed by Spain Commercial, Canon Virginia, Inc., Damuth Trane, Faye Petro Gargiulo & Dr. J. Frank Sanderson, Jr., Masters Mechanical, Virginia Natural Gas, Warwick Mechanical Group, Lions Bridge Financial Advisors & Colonial River Wealth Management, Weymouth Funeral Home & Crematory, the Abbitt Family Foundation, AP Graphics, the Gloucester Community Foundation, and Pearson Toyota.

Community members shared gifts in honor of, in memory of, or in the gratitude of patients and health care workers.

Community members are invited to join Riverside in this time of reflection by sharing gifts in honor of, in memory of, or in the gratitude of patients and health care workers. The gifts will go towards Riverside’s Make a Difference Fund, which addresses the most immediate needs of the health system and our patients. More details can be found at www.riversideonline.com/foundation.
