Mr. Roland Elwood Pusey, 82, beloved husband of Patricia Korneluk “Pat” Pusey and a resident of Hallwood, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021, at his home. Born March 11, 1939, in Stockton, Md., he was the son of the late Preston Elwood Pusey and the late Mabel Hancock Pusey.

Following high school, Roland attended Goldey-Beacom College, where he received an associate’s degree in business administration. Soon after college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his term in Germany until honorable discharge in October of 1964. Less than a month after his return, Roland began working for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, retiring as district operating manager after more than 25 years of service. Over the next two decades, he worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block.

A man of tremendous faith in the Lord, Roland was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church, and over the last several years, was a dedicated member of Hallwood United Methodist Church. As a proud veteran, he remained devoted to his country through his service in the Army Reserves, was a 44-year member of The American Legion Pocomoke City, Md., Post 0093, and a member of the National Museum of the U.S. Army. Roland enjoyed gardening, was an avid Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan, and especially looked forward to spending quality time with Pat (aka “Poopsie”) and his loving and faithful animals.

In addition to his wife of 38 years, Roland is survived by his brother, Larry P. Pusey, and his wife, Cheryl, of Milford, Del.; nephews, Larry II, Eric, Keith, and Michael, and their families; and his furbabies, Loretta Lynn, Prissy, and Meow Meow. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Betty Lou Hitch, and her husband, Charles, and his dog, Storm, who was his best bud.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Portersville Cemetery in Stockton, Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. James Maddox officiating.
