The Northampton Yellow Jackets hosted the Franklin Broncos May 24 in Eastville for the Jackets’ Senior Night.

The Jackets celebrated and honored three seniors — Jada Giddens, Emily Kellam, and Mollie Travis — before the start of the blowout win.

Next fall, Giddens will head to Virginia Commonwealth University, Kellam will attend Virginia Tech, and Travis is enrolling at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. The trio have helped guide Northampton to a 3-5 record including a home win over Nandua last week and has one more home game, May 26, against Surry County before the team heads to the postseason.

The Jackets’ coaching staff displayed the numbers of departing seniors on the field for Senior Day. Mollie Travis is pictured throwing a strike from behind her No. 18 during the second inning.

The Jackets defeated the Broncos 18-0 in just five innings after scoring eight runs in the first inning. Mollie Travis pitched a no-hitter in the shutout win, striking out 12 batters through five innings.

Mallory Hook led at bat going 3 for 4 with a double, two triples, and three RBIs. Charlotte Henderson went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, and Emily Kellam went 1 for 2 with three RBIs and two steals.

The Jackets will travel to Surry County for the last game of the regular season June 3, with a 4:30 p.m. start time.
