Ms. Maryalice Foley, of Arlington, Mass., age 69, passed away peacefully July 15, 2021, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a courageous three-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Maryalice was the beloved daughter of the late John A. and Rita Flanagan Foley, of Arlington; sister of John A. Foley Jr., M.D., (Karen), of Franktown, Judith Foley McManamon, of Falmouth, Mass., Paula Foley Leibovitz (Harvey), of Winthrop, Mass., and the late Michael T. Foley, M.D., (Anne), of Arlington. She was also the cherished and doting aunt to John A. Foley III (Lana), of Salisbury, Md., Katherine Foley Stith (Peter), of Kittery Point, Maine, Matthew B. Foley, of Athens, Ga., Thomas P. McManamon (Kathleen), of Falmouth, Patrick Foley McManamon (Alexis), of Chelmsford, Mass.., Michael T. Foley Jr., Patrick H. Foley (Veronica), Elizabeth Foley McLaughlin (Danny), Jessica L. Uth (Chonny), of Foxborough, Mass., and Philip E. Leibovitz (Elizabeth), of northern Rhode Island. She was also the great-aunt of 12 and is survived by many loving cousins and dear friends.

Maryalice graduated from Arlington Catholic High School in 1969. She received a B.S. from Boston College School of Education (special ed.) in 1973 and later obtained a master’s in education from UMass/Lowell. She had a successful 36-year career in the Lowell Public Schools, eventually rising to the position of assistant principal at The Benjamin Butler Middle School. She was devoted to her students and upon her retirement, the auditorium at the Butler School was dedicated in her honor. Maryalice was a member of The Boston Crusaders Senior Drum and Bugle Corps, The Arlington Philharmonic, and St. Agnes Choir.
Visiting hours were held Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St., Arlington, MA 02474. A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Agnes Church, 32 Medford St., Arlington, MA 02474. Burial will be private.
