One Dead, Two Injured in Pedestrian-Vehicle Crash

A 43-year-old Parksley man who was attempting to cross Route 13 on foot south of Evans Road near Parksley died Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle.
Abel Antonio Morales-Perez died upon impact, according to Virginia State Police spokesperson Sgt. Michelle Anaya.
The crash happened around 8:32 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15.
Preliminary investigation shows the driver of a 2005 Ford Explorer was traveling southbound on Route 13 when Morales-Perez entered the roadway and walked into the Explorer’s path.
After striking Morales-Perez, the vehicle ran off the road and struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The driver, 44-year-old Sain Wilson, of Parksley, and a passenger, Regisma Wilmer, of Florida, both suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and were taken by medical aircraft to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
The crash is still under investigation.
