The Eastern Shore Soccer Club U14 boys team defeated Beach Football Club 8-4 Saturday, Aug. 14, in Nassawadox. The team is coached by Joe Aigner, a former player for the Chowan University Hawks.

“The boys worked hard,” said Aigner. “They did everything we’ve been working on in practice. They executed well, all the basic fundamentals. Today was all about the players.”

Several players are on the Nandua Middle School soccer team and are eagerly awaiting their moment to join Paul Nolz’s varsity squad. Nolz, who recently led the Warriors to a championship this past season, has already coached some members of the U14 team. They participated in his annual youth soccer camp.

In early September, the team will travel to Richmond to participate in a travel soccer tournament. “The goal is to play ball year-round,” said Aigner. “We want to develop these players’ skills so they can potentially earn college scholarships and further their athletic careers in Division 1 or Division 2 sports.”
