Mr. Walter Lee Wessells Jr., 74, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at his home in Parksley. Born Jan. 21, 1947, in Nassawadox, he was the only child born to the late Walter Lee Wessells and the late Juanita Shreaves Wessells.

For more than 20 years, Walt worked as a sales manager for Chesapeake Plywood Inc., in Pocomoke City, Md. In 1982, he started his own company, W.W. Building Surplus Inc., in Parksley, which has remained a thriving business over the last four decades. Walt was a longtime member of Halls Chapel Church. He loved the Lord, adored his family, and was never without a sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Young Wessells, of Parksley; sons, Mark Wessells and his wife, Helen, of Ellendale, Del., and Walter “Todd” Wessells and his wife, Shannon, of Onancock; stepchildren, Sonia Watson-Conser and her husband, Mel, Robert Watson Jr., Robin Watson and her husband, Lorenzo, Angie Abell and her husband, Barry, Heather Wilson Neal and her husband, David, and Christina Wilson Ochsner and her husband, Garrett; grandchildren, Jessica Shimer (Chris), Dustin Wessells (Kassie), Trevor Todd Wessells, Kevin Liddle (Corra), Bethany Mavromatis, Kobie Henderson, Shayla Henderson, Taulman Abell, Hope Abell, Evan Neal, and Tyler Watson (Jennifer); several great-grandchildren; and his loving puppy, Patches.

Funeral services were conducted from the graveside at the Liberty Cemetery Friday, Oct. 1, 2021, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Freddie Ward officiating.
