Mrs. Charlotte Ann Bolding, wife of the late J.T. Bolding, of Modest Town, passed on to her eternal home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 8, 2021. She passed away at home with family by her side.

Born Feb. 2, 1943, in Modest Town, a daughter to the late William Robert Young and the late Mabel Groton Young, she was the last home delivery attended by Dr. Parks. She went to Parksley High School and recently had a marvelous time celebrating her 60th class reunion with friends and classmates. After graduation, she began working at Metompkin Bank and Trust Company where she remained through many mergers until her health forced her retirement from PNC just months shy of 50 years of service. She truly adored her customers and said many times after retirement how much she missed them. Charlotte Ann had a green thumb and enjoyed tending to her flowers as well as traveling to many fishing tournaments with J.T. over the years. She was the first female member of the Eastern Shore Anglers’ Club’s Cape Hatteras Fishing Tournament team. A devoted, lifelong member of Modest Town Baptist Church, she was the former children’s Sunday School director, she led the choir for decades with her beautiful soprano voice, and she served as a trustee. Additionally, nothing brought her greater joy than gathering with friends and family, whether it was on the beach, at family dinners, or on countless trips to Ocean City, Busch Gardens, or the family-famous Williamsburg Pottery excursions.

Charlotte Anne is survived by her son, Robert Bolding, and wife, Penny, of Chincoteague, and daughter, Tammy Bolding Parks, of Modest Town; sister, Betsy Young Whealton, and husband, Howard, of Hampton and Chincoteague; grandson, Eric Bolding; and great-grandchildren, Angel, Jaden, and E.J. Bolding, all of Pocomoke City, Md.; sisters-in-law, Helen Talbott, of Glasgow, Va., and Ruby Thorpe, of Franklin, Tenn.; nephews, Spencer Whealton, Gregory Neese, and Vernon Neese; devoted cousin, Rosemary Gibbons, of Bloxom; her very best, lifelong friend, Mary Belle Mears, of Hallwood, and her children, Jennifer Russell, Jon Mears, and Thomas James Mears, and their families.

Other than her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her nephew, James B. “Jim” Neese, and niece, Kay Neese Henderson.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m., at Modest Town Baptist Church with the Rev. John Cullop officiating. Interment will follow in the Modest Town Baptist Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Modest Town Baptist Church, in care of Tina Wessells, P.O. Box 7, Modest Town, VA 23412.

Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
