Nandua Wins District Cross-Country Title

The Eastern Shore district cross-country tournament took place Wednesday, Oct. 20. Girls and boys teams from Northampton, Nandua, Arcadia, and Chincoteague competed in a 5K course at Nandua High School. Nandua boys and girls teams placed first to capture the district title. Northampton boys and girls placed second. 

During the girls race, six Nandua runners, three Northampton runners, and one Arcadia runner finished in the top 10. During the boys race, five Nandua runners, two Northampton runners, two Arcadia runners, and one Chincoteague runner finished in the top 10.

Top finishers in the girls category were: Grace Bentley (NAN 21:21), Lizania Morales (NHS 21:57), Taylor Thornes (NAN 24:40), Laylah Jones (NAN  25:12), and Jocelyn Torres (NHS 25:28).

Top finishers in the boys category were: Carlo Balmoria (NAN 17:16), Brayden Shotwell (NAN 17:36), David Gastelum (NAN 19:01), Winchino Verdeau (ARC 19:04), and Jordan James (NAN 19:41).
