Mrs. Edna V. Waters, of New Church, slipped from this life to her eternal rest on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, at home with her family by her side.
Born in Pocomoke, Md., Edna was the oldest daughter of the late Harvey E. Waters Sr. and the late Elsie V Waters. She was affectionately known as “Mom,” “Grandmom,” and “Granny.” She earned the name of “Sarge” by being the matriarch of the family and always tried to keep family in line.
In October 1962, Edna obtained her hairdresser license from the state of Virginia. She was a dedicated employee and began working at Pocomoke City Laundry Factory, Dulaney Foods, Birds Eye, and finally Holly Farms.
On May 30, 1953, Edna married Clarence E. Waters Sr. (deceased) and they raised four children.
Private funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, at the Chapel of Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac, with the Rev. Harold E. White Sr. officiating. Interment was in the Trinity U.M. Cemetery, Pocomoke.
She leaves to cherish her memories, four children, Anthony N. Waters Sr., Peggy A. Wilson, Clarence E. Waters Jr., and Kenneth W. Waters; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Harvey E. Waters Jr., Gladys McNeil, and Franklin Waters Sr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
